Another day....

Yep, the girls still have fevers so we are homebound again today. I could really get use to this coffee-jammie-book at 9am habit. The girls slept in today until after 10am (after being up multiple times last) so I enjoyed a morning of luxury. They both came and snuggled in my bed when they finally woke up. That was the best part of the day for sure!

I decided I needed to drag out some old tricks activities to fill our day. We needed activities that interested them without making them use a lot of energy...because they don't have much these days.

First up...Sensory Tubs

Next up...Painting Baking Soda with Vinegar

Lastly, we painted egg cartoon caterpillars

After a bath to cool off from crazy temperatures,
the girls snuggled on the couch to read.

Such a fun day. I can see why people love homeschooling their children. We had some rich conversations, a few disagreements, and A LOT of giggling!  I will say we greatly missed having Talin (& dad) here with us all today!

Stay healthy, buddy!

Sickies

Two Turner girls are home today with fevers. It's all fun & technology when the fever breaks though, right?

This morning, I found them snuggling in bed. So sweet! Sure hope they feel better soon.

**Update** Both girls were tested for Influenza B this afternoon and the results were negative. So relieved! Thanks for the positive wishes & prayers!

Crock Pot

I've always been a little intimidated by the crock pot. It gets really hot (probably too hot and was recalled at some point the last 10 years) and the outcome is always a surprise. Plus, clean up is hard because it's cooked all day is really caked on.

Surprisingly, my ill feelings towards the good ole crock pot have changed. It has really made meal prep a lot simpler when I can use the crock pot. Evenings are short and busy but I'm trying hard to feed the kids as healthy as possible.

I've been experimenting...mainly with chicken. The last few concoctions have been delicious! I think I'm hooked.

Jr Kaws Basketball 2013

Our Jr Kaws Basketball season has begun! Both Jaedin & Talin are playing again this year.

Sadly (& surprisingly), I did not get a photo of them together. The good news is that we have 5 more weeks of photo-ops!

Talin plays on the 1st/2nd grade boys team.

Jaedin plays on the 3rd/4th grade girls team.

Bows, Bows, Bows, Bows

I've never thought about blogging about this until I posted about our Lego situation. And oddly enough, new people in our home that use our guest bathroom comment on our bow situation almost 100% of the time.

Do you have little girls? Do you struggle with keeping hair accessories organized? If so, maybe our solution will help!

I used extra ribbon and hung strips on the wall to attach bows to. No more scrunched up bows! And I can easily see what color options we have and/or need. (I have since wanted to re-do this and find fun ribbon and hang more permanently but haven't gotten around to it yet.)

Headbands? I used large lemonade containers (I've also seen oatmeal containers used) and covered them with wrapping paper. No more broken headbands!

Legos, Legos, Legos, Legos...

To say that Talin loves Legos is an understatement. He is slightly obsessed with Legos as a matter of fact. That is all the little guy has asked for the last 3 years.

Legos for Christmas

Legos with cousins

The problem...Legos were taking over his bedroom.
The solution...10 drawer organizer

I've looked at pinterest and blogs so many times trying to find a solution to our Lego problem. Lots of great ideas out there! This was the simplest and fit our needs & space the best. It was also 50% off at Michaels by chance. Bonus!

It took us A LOT of time to take apart broken Lego designs and organize by color but the reward was great!

Who knew we'd need a whole drawer just for Lego people?!?!

Talin now has room on his train Lego table to play and can find the pieces he needs when building.

Talin got this game for Christmas...highly recommend for anyone who also has a Lego-loving kid!

KSU...Fiesta Bowl Time

Our beloved Wildcats played in the Fiesta Bowl this year. While we weren't able to make the trip to Arizona, we cheered loudly from home. Our sweet kids even wore purple for the big game...ALL of them!

Happy New Year!

Guess what? We didn't have our annual NYE party and neither of us were sad at all. :) It was so fun to spend the evening with the kids this year. We still got to be with friends but we sure saved ourselves a lot of time & money by skipping the party planning. The best part...it was snowing! The kids had a BLAST sledding in the dark.

Countdown...3...2...1...

Happy New Year!!!!
