I was fortunate enough to attend a training last summer to become an INTEL Master Teacher.  Because of this, I was asked to train at least 10 other teachers.  I worked with another teacher in my district and together we trained 20 teachers...all from Perry-Lecompton!  The course was called INTEL Thinking with Technology.  It was an awesome 3 days!  The teachers in USD #343 are above & beyond excellent.  I feel so blessed to have my children attend a district with such dedicated & superior teachers. 

Race Day

We had a blast at the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway.  The actual race was slightly on the boring side (as there were few cautions which means no wrecks) but we still had a fun day in the sun watching some of our favorite drivers.  Our friends, Tony & Shelly, got 4 free tickets and invited us to go along.  We decided to buy some pit passes so we could see all the pre-race action on the field.  That was the best!  B's Boys (my fantasy NASCAR team) has been in 1st place all season and is still at the top!  The day ended with #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr (Eric's driver) finishing 2nd and #17 Matt Kenseth (my driver) finishing 6th.  We were all smiles on the way home!  :)

Treasures...another Turner first!

I attempted to take all 3 kids to the city-wide garage sales. Success! They were each successful in finding a new, gently used treasure to bring home. We only went to 3 sales but that was plenty to get them excited about this newly found hobby.

Just because...

we can.  :)  We love staying at home!  We also love summer break!  One of our favorite things to do in the morning is relax.  No rushing to get dressed.  No rushing to eat breakfast.  No rushing to get our backpacks & jackets on.  No rushing to the babysitters or school.  We ♥ it!!!

Phase I

Jaedin got her first set of braces put on today.  She was a brave, excited trooper!  I'm not sure she slept at all last night.  Of course, she picked red & blue for the rubber band colors.  More than likely, this set will stay on 4-6 months and then we'll switch to a retainer until she is older.  We are predicting another set in the 'teen years.  :)

Back to school...already??!!

I bought a couple of workbooks for each of the kids and also made them each a binder of fun, summer learning.  I thought we'd begin our "school time" next week after we could truly give our brains a much needed rest.  Nope.  They begged to get started today...the first official day of summer break.  How could I say no?

Last Day of School....

Talin celebrated the last day of preschool with a breakfast picnic and fun. He received a new book and a certificate saying he is ready for Kindergarten! We can't believe how fast he has grown up but could not be more proud of his hard work this year.

Jaedin had a bittersweet last day of 1st grade.  She is very ready for 2nd grade but will miss her teacher, friends and going to PES (where mommy works part of the time).  Next year, she will go to Lecompton Elementary School with all the 2nd-4th graders.  This will be a great change for her once she gets use to the new routine.  She also recognized at an assembly for being 1st place in the Accelerated Reader program for her class.  Way to go, Jae!
