1011 Laramie

Really, who hasn't lived in this house?

Ironically, all 3 of us lived in this same house at different times while attending KSU...and it's still standing!!!

Good ole Manhappiness...

What's better than a trip to Manhattan? A Wildcat victory over the Jayhawks!!! We loaded up the 1978 Minnie-Winnie and 7 Wildcat fans headed down Hwy 24 for the Little Apple. We got right outside of Manhattan and got a flat tire. Luckily, we had a spare...but no jack! Glad we had lots of food & drinks with us. The "boys" decided we could make it to the stadium and they would change it there. We made it just fine and they were able to put on the spare. We had tons of fun tailgating before the game (yummy food too!) but we had even more fun during the Sunflower Showdown football game. GO CATS!!! Final score...KSU 17 KU 10. After the game, we loaded up the trusty minnie-winnie and headed to our hotel to check in. Once we were checked in, we headed to the 'ville (Aggieville). We had a great BBQ dinner and then enjoyed some Manhattan night life. What a fun crew, what a memorable trip, and what a victory!!!

A little library fun...

To prepare for the big game, I asked some 3rd grade students to color Powercats to decorate the library. They loved it...even those that are Jayhawk fans. I left the library windows looking like this...

I had a feeling it would be tampered with and I was right. Here's what it looked like the next day...

Regardless, the final score stayed the same!

Halloween

Ta-da...pictures from our fun Halloween! We loved having it on a Saturday and the weather could not have been more perfect! We were able to make it to all the neighbors before Remi & Talin wore out and headed back to nana's house. We then took Jaedin around Perry to get some extra goods...as if she didn't have enough!

Jaedin ~ Dorthy
Talin ~ Firefighter (although if you ask him, he was also a "worker")
Remingtin ~ Sweet Princess Witch

Halloween at School

Jaedin had a lot of fun at her 1st Kindergarten classroom party of the year. It was an extra fun day because Eric worked from home that day and was able to join her for lunch and then come back to the classroom party & school parade.

Toothless wonder...

Jaedin lost her other top front tooth at school during lunch. I was teaching at Lecompton and got a call...of course, the first thing that came to my mind was panic...someone was sick or hurt. Instead, it was Jae's super excited voice telling me she lost her top tooth at lunch while eating a cinnamon roll. She was beyond excited!!! (No, they don't let every kid call when they lose a tooth...it helps to be friends/neighbors with the secretary and work in the district.) Guess it's time for the tooth fairy to make another stop at the Turner house!

"All she wants for Christmas is her 2 front teeth!!!"

Jaedin's Kdg Field trip

Jaedin had her first Kindergarten field trip. All 4 kindergarten classes loaded up the buses and headed to Gary's Pumpkin Patch (aka Gary's Berries) outside of Perry. We got there just in time to eat our delicious sack lunches and then head out to the play area. The kids all enjoyed the huge slides, haybales, corn pit, and gigantic tires.

Unfortunately, it was slightly muddy that day. Little miss Jaedin was running to get a classmate to get on the hayride and her legs slipped right out from under her. Her whole backside was soaking wet and covered in mud when she stood up. Hmmm...what to do?!?! I took her to the bathroom and tried to calm her down and wipe off as much mud as I could. She put on a brave face and tried to enjoy the rest of the day as much as she could...considering she was wearing wet pants and it was quite chilly out. All the students then got to go on a hayride and pick a pumpkin.

If you look close in this pic, you can see her wet jeans!

Once we got back to the play area, her wonderful teacher, Ms. Johnson, tried so hard to cheer her up ~ made Jaedin smile lots! Jaedin even says her favorite part of the field trip was going down the slide with her teacher. :-) All in all, it was a fantastic field trip!

Country Kids at Heart

What a fun day to spend at home...playing outside and being a kid! The kids were outside playing while dad was working in the shop. I peeked outside and saw them all sharing some Pringles...super messy but loving life! I'm pretty sure Maggie even got a few.

After nap time, we decided to rake some leaves and make a big pile. At first, Remingtin didn't quite understand and wanted to run through the pile constantly...not to the delight of her brother & sister. Finally, we got a big pile and they all came running. Dad even got in on the fun! I'm sure the neighbors loved our screams & giggles!!!
