American Girl Adventures

Jaedin had her first dental cleaning with braces (which she has been doing awesome with!) so we decided it would be a great day to surprise her with a trip to KC.  Eric and my friend, Jenny, met us for lunch.  Surprise #1 was yummy & fun!  Then we headed to American Girl....surprise #2 was even better!  Jaedin was SO excited.  That store is amazing and truly a little girls dream come true.  We had a lot of fun walking around and around the store looking at dolls, clothes, accessories, etc.  We left with Kanani (the Hawaiian American Girl Doll of the Year), hair supplies and a couple of new outfits for her.  We can't wait to go back!

Swim, swim, swim, swim...

We finally got Eric convinced to buy us a pool!  :)  They kids have had so much fun playing in the water and will continually say "this is the best day ever" or "I love this pool" or "I am so happy that we are swimming together".  I do believe it has been worth every penny!  We're already trying to talk him into just "digging a hole" in the back yard and pouring some cement for next year.

Teachers teaching teachers

I was fortunate enough to attend a training last summer to become an INTEL Master Teacher.  Because of this, I was asked to train at least 10 other teachers.  I worked with another teacher in my district and together we trained 20 teachers...all from Perry-Lecompton!  The course was called INTEL Thinking with Technology.  It was an awesome 3 days!  The teachers in USD #343 are above & beyond excellent.  I feel so blessed to have my children attend a district with such dedicated & superior teachers. 

Race Day

We had a blast at the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 NASCAR race at the Kansas Speedway.  The actual race was slightly on the boring side (as there were few cautions which means no wrecks) but we still had a fun day in the sun watching some of our favorite drivers.  Our friends, Tony & Shelly, got 4 free tickets and invited us to go along.  We decided to buy some pit passes so we could see all the pre-race action on the field.  That was the best!  B's Boys (my fantasy NASCAR team) has been in 1st place all season and is still at the top!  The day ended with #88 Dale Earnhardt Jr (Eric's driver) finishing 2nd and #17 Matt Kenseth (my driver) finishing 6th.  We were all smiles on the way home!  :)

Treasures...another Turner first!

I attempted to take all 3 kids to the city-wide garage sales. Success! They were each successful in finding a new, gently used treasure to bring home. We only went to 3 sales but that was plenty to get them excited about this newly found hobby.

Just because...

we can.  :)  We love staying at home!  We also love summer break!  One of our favorite things to do in the morning is relax.  No rushing to get dressed.  No rushing to eat breakfast.  No rushing to get our backpacks & jackets on.  No rushing to the babysitters or school.  We ♥ it!!!

Phase I

Jaedin got her first set of braces put on today.  She was a brave, excited trooper!  I'm not sure she slept at all last night.  Of course, she picked red & blue for the rubber band colors.  More than likely, this set will stay on 4-6 months and then we'll switch to a retainer until she is older.  We are predicting another set in the 'teen years.  :)
