Omaha Bound! (Day 1)

We decided to pack up the kiddos and head to Omaha for my birthday weekend. We didn't tell them anything about where we were going except that we would not be sleeping at home that night, that they'd get wet, and we also promised they'd have a lot of fun. They truly thought we were going camping at the lake...which they were very excited about.

The kids woke up bright and early Saturday morning and we were off! We decided to tell them on the way that we were headed to Omaha, NE, which meant nothing to them. The big surprise was when we got to town we drove by the Omaha Zoo (major excited eyes) and then we parked at our Water park hotel (huge eyes). After seeing the zoo's parking lot, we decided to hit the water park first. The kids LOVED it. We didn't get many pictures...I'm sure you can imagine why...3 kids at an indoor water park...mom & dad stayed very busy! After they had played in the water for hours, we talked them into some DQ ice cream just so we could have a short break. :-)

Once we got checked into our hotel room, we decided it was time to show a little Wildcat pride and we pulled out our purple. We decided to check out the hotel a little more, grab some dinner, and spend some money at the arcade before the big game started. Not to our surprise, they LOVED the arcade. Remi especially enjoyed all the climbing opportunities.

Finally it was bedtime...for some of us! Eric & Jaedin decided to go back to the water park to do some big kids rides and I relaxed in the room with the 2 younger kids....until the fire alarm went off! Hmmm, what to do?!?! I grabbed a kid with each hand and pretended I knew how to evacuate a hotel. Luckily, it was a false alarm but Talin is still talking about the excitement.

Remingtin the mommy - 21 months

Remingtin is really into imaginary play lately. I got out some baby dolls, a cradle, a stroller, etc. and she was the happiest little girl. She played "mommy" for hours!

We need a hat intervention...

Remingtin has loved hats from the day she was born. She still tries to put everything on her head like a hat. Got some cute pictures that she is going to LOVE when she gets older. :-)

Our first one to move out...

Jaedin & Talin really like to go into their room sometimes and shut Remingtin out so they can play "big kid" games with "big kid" toys. Remi does not always like this! I was in the kitchen and here comes Remi with a suitcase, camera, & purse...telling me "I go nana's, I go nana's"...think she had finally had enough of being left out and was hitting the road. Poor thing!

I can't believe the August weather! We LOVE it...prefect for playing outside! (Talin said he was "too busy" for pictures this day.)

Still loving school!

Jaedin is still loving school! Her favorite part so far is PE & recess. What about library time with mom???

Jaedin's journey begins!

This is such a bittersweet day at our house. Our little girl is starting school...and she is so very excited!!! Jaedin could barely sleep because she was so excited for kindergarten. I could barely sleep because I was so excited for her...and also sad that my little girl is growing up so fast. I still remember being pregnant with her and bringing her home from the hospital. So many changes this school year, Jaedin will be going to school all day, every day and I will be working in the library at the 2 elementary schools in our district. I get to see Jaedin for library 2 times every week. We are very lucky to have Ms. Johnson as Jaedin's teacher...we can't wait to watch her grow this year!

Twas the night before...

KINDERGARTEN!!!! Jaedin starts school tomorrow. Oh where, oh where did the time go? She LOVED getting tons of mail wishing her good luck in school. Everyday, she wants to check the mailbox to see if something might be in there for her. THANKS to everyone who sent well wishes!

Little Red Boots...

Remingtin decided she wanted to wear Jaedin's old red boots... and she loves them! We think she looks pretty cute in them too...especially when she's wearing more than just her pajama bottoms!

Talin's 3rd Birthday Party!

Talin had so much fun at his 3rd birthday party! It was a construction theme - he does love his trucks! The only thing he asked for this year was a pinata full of candy. More pics to come...

The Birthday Boy!

If you know Talin, you know that he is not a "sweets" type of kid...he loves his meat & potatoes. For his birthday dinner, I wanted to make him a cake or cupcakes so he could blow out some candles but he only wanted meatballs (& pringles, his other favorite). Only Talin! He also got to open his presents from mommy & daddy (and Jae & Remi) and one present from his nana. It got him very excited for his party! His big present this year was a sandbox...he loves it!
