LGA Showcase

When we talk about Remi these days, it usually contains a story about her gymnastics. She is slightly obsessed with her newfound talent.

Remi has been taking gymnastics at Lawrence Gymnastics and Athletics for a couple of years now but this fall she was advanced to a higher level class for her age. When she heard the owner say "she may be ready to compete soon", she had a fire light inside of her.

LGA hosted a Winter Showcase where athletes could show family & friends all their skills. Remi was SOOOO excited that a couple of extra special friends decided to come and watch her show-off (err...I mean showcase).

PLES Winter Program

Jaedin and Talin had their Winter Program. They got all dressed up & were very excited for the night full of fun surprises!

Cookie Decorating Extravaganza

We like to decorate cookies...a lot! I think we left with over 20 decorated cookies. And boy, did they ever look yummy!!!

There might have been a few samples here and there.

This year, our group expanded and we decorated in the basement of the church. The kids had a blast!

In search...

...of the PERFECT Christmas Tree.

This year we went to Strawberry Hill Christmas Tree Farm outside of Lawrence to look for our tree.

We have a tradition of waiting until all birthday celebrations are over before we get our Christmas tree...lesson learned. If you wait too long, you won't have much to choose from. In fact, some tree farms in the area were already sold out!

We found the one we wanted to take home though!

Such a fun tradition!!!

MCG Christmas Party

We headed back to Boulevard Brewery for the McCownGordon Holiday Party. Once again, it was an Ugly Christmas Sweater party!

Eric won an award...he's officially know as "Dumpty" around the office. Yes there is also a "Humpty" in the office.

We headed out on the plaza with friends afterwards. It was a fun date night!

Jaedin's 9th Birthday Skating Party

Jaedin asked to have a roller skating birthday party this year. The past few years, she has had a slumber party so I was a little surprised and a lot relieved. A skating party sounded a lot easier. Having the girls birthdays 5 days apart between Thanksgiving & Christmas makes things a little busy.

Then she told us she wanted to have her friends donate money to people who lost their homes during Hurricane Sandy instead of bringing her presents. Floored. Eric and I were beyond floored. And surprised. And proud. And blessed. What an amazing nine year old girl we have!

So we created a little invitation insert that explained her wish for no presents this year. We were beyond warmed with the support she received. Jaedin collected $420 from her friends at her birthday party. Amazing! She didn't stop though. She now has $1000 to donate to the American Red Cross by getting donations and matching funds from businesses and other family & friends. (*see post on what all has happened as a result of her sweet heart)

Needless to say, it was a super fun skating party! It will always hold special meaning in our hearts. Jaedin already has her next birthday wish figured out. (Yep, very proud!)
